February 2023 - James Baker
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that the Baker Family said a sad farewell to
James Hoad Baker
who passed away on the 8th February 2023.
At his parents farm in Booborowie, James learnt how to sail on their farm dam in a cadet yacht built by his father Ronald (Ron) Baker. When the family moved to Hawthorndene, James became an enthusiastic & highly competitive member of many sailing clubs and teams. The passion of the water, sailing, boating, fishing and community involvement continued throughout his life.
James built the "Forerunner of Goolwa" for his parents, at his Goolwa business, "Alufarm". In James’ retirement, he and Christine took over the updating & publication of the “Murray River Pilot”.
James is survived by his wife, Christine, his children, Amanda, Scott & Stuart and partners, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

August 2022 - Reprint
In August 2022, the "Murray River Pilot" has been reprinted and is available for purchase.
This will be the last reprint in its current format, with an update and revision due out in 2023.
